Snapshot by Kelsey Robinson

My photograph starts out on the happy 4th of July! My family was having a party so everyone in my family could celebrate the holiday together! My cousin was five and I was seven and we were best friends at the time!
The night was dark and the only thing lighting the sky were the brightly colored, booming fireworks. Surrounding me were the colors red, green, yellow, purple, blue, orange and pink! My dog Riley was barking at the different noises echoing in our city. Our cats were frantically hidden in one of the three huge pine trees taking up half of our yard.
My family was enclosing on the food table hoarding the last bits of their favorite entrée of the night. My cousin Karli and I were stopped in the breezeway talking when my mom snapped a picture of us. We were both grinning because we were indescribably blissful. I was in my tan Capri’s and favorite purple frog shirt while Karli was in her white and red checkered tank top with levis.
Neither of us wanted this night to end and you could tell by the look in our eyes. We both had never been so happy!

It was early afternoon and the sun was beaming down on us. The soft, warm wind was slowly blowing past us causing our hair to slightly move around our excited faces. The log beneath our feet was large and difficult to balance on. The lake in the background was swooshing with the wind. The fish slowly swimming in the frigid, blue water. My cousin, about two feet to the right of me, was kneeling down playing in the light golden sand. I was standing on my squishy, white flip flops looking back towards the camera. The sun beating on my dark blue shirt was starting to warm up my skin. My brother had one of his funny faces on, like always. The excitement in my aunt’s eyes was unforgettable. She was so happy! Her son not so much because of his aching pain the sun had caused him. His girlfriend had a look of enjoyment as she snapped the picture. You could tell she was trying to capture the whole surprise factor. My grandparents behind her were smiling as the picture was being taken as if they thought it was going to turn out to be a great picture, which it was!
