Advice #28
I have a big problem that I need help with because I don’t know what to do. About a week ago my friend told me she was talking to this guy on the internet. At first I thought she was just kidding but then she told me she wasn’t, I thought it was okay at first because she had a friend but then I found out he was older then she was. I really want to be a good friend and just say that its cool but I know there are a lot of nasty perverts out there who may seem nice online but they really aren’t. Ever since both my friend and I got a Facebook we are on the computer almost everyday, but I think my friend is on it a little too much and I’m afraid that she is going to start talking more to her “friend” online. I don’t think its wrong to talk to people online if they are your friends or to add them on Facebook, but if you really don’t know the person and they add you just say no because you don’t know what you could be getting yourself into.
I told my friend what I thought about the entire situation and she just started laughing and said I sound like a mother talking to their child. I don’t want to sound like a mother. but I know that there are dangers out there that sometimes as teenagers we don’t pay attention to or want to deny there is any danger in what we are doing. I prefer to sound like a crazy mother worrying about her child, instead of my friend getting hurt by some stranger. Nothing has ever happened to me or my family because we chat online, but we don’t talk to strangers online. I’ve heard stories on the news about girls who talk to guys on the internet and get kidnapped or even killed because they met with the guy they were talking to online. I’m not saying that’s going to happen to my friend but you can never be too safe about people out there. Abby please help me!! Should I keep bugging my friend and tell her to stop talking to that guy? Or should I just leave her alone and forget that she is talking to a guy online?

Sometimes I also just can’t sit still long enough to get anything done, or what I am doing is just so boring. So, I get on the computer and chat with friends or watch TV while I am doing homework, so then it takes forever to get anything done. I also text a lot and that is really distracting. Every time I text someone I forget what I am doing. Sometimes even when I know I have a lot to get done I will go hang out with a friend or ride my bike or go to the movies, ect. I just put everything off the last minute and then I end up staying up late or just not doing it. There are so many things that I would just rather do and I am a huge procrastinator. When I have big assignments I always leave them to the night before they are due, and do something more fun instead. I especially have this problem on the weekends. I leave everything until Sunday night. I need to manage my time better and get less distracted so I can do more important things, like school, first before the less important things. Help me!

My dad was diagnosed with bipolar over a year ago. He has been extremely depressed for about 10 years so most of my life. At first he was really angry at us thinking everyone else is wrong and that he was perfect. With him thinking that way he refused to take any medication because he felt indestructible. That feeling is part of the illness and my family had to move out. Now he is realizing all the wrong things he did but is still not thinking clearly. He is extremely depressed and has thought of suicide. This feeling is also part of the illness. I feel like I don't want to be with him because seeing him down makes me feel guilty. Is it wrong of me to almost hate my dad for all the things hes done. I don't really hate my dad I just hate the illness that has taken over his mind and has made him someone else. How do I get over this fear of seeing him and maybe going to my old house and finding him dead. I need to move on with my life but I don't know how

after that then we all went to this one place called universal studios and they had rides of the terminator in there and they had this movie of him that was 3d. and when ever he would move then it would look like he was going to come and kill or hert you but it was only a movie and movies do not kill. then we went on this ride that was called the terminator rise of the machines. you were in a car and some of the places that you would go then some times then all of the machines would come out and scar you to death lol but they all were way scary. and on some of the rides then my little brother was screaming so hard that it would hert your ears when you heard him it felt like they were going to bread our ears.
we went to the beach and the sand was so hot that i felt like it was going to give us blisters on our feet. so we all ran to the frezing cold water because we thought that it was not going to be that cold we thought that it was not ever going to be as cold as it was. so we all got use to the water and when swimming for about 2 hours then we went to one of the stores down there and we bought bunches and bunches of clothes. then after that big day then we all went home fell on our beds because we were so beat from playing all day long in the sun

I really need your help with some of my problems. There is this one person that I know loves me but sometimes I feel like this certain person doesn’t. I feel like this because he never shows it. Yes he supports my family and everything and he is amazing. But he has a huge problem and a disease that is killing him. This certain person has an alcohol problem. Its hurting me inside to know that he is killing himself. He has put my family through hell by everything that he is doing to himself and us. I have no idea what to do anymore. I love this person with all my heart but with him doing this to us is really hard to deal with. This disease is taking over his body. He is so addicted that he can’t stop. He always tries to stop and he ALWAYS promises he will stop. But it has been over 14 years he has been promising us. I can’t even trust him anymore. He is always telling us that he is supporting us and getting us everything we need but that’s not all I need. I need love. I would rather be a homeless and have a family that spends time together. That actually takes his time to spend time with his family. He is always telling us that he loves us but he never shows it to us because he is always out drinking or starting a fight. Or even leaving us. Family time means something to my sisters, mother, and I but we never get a chance to actually have REAL family time. Family time is everybody in your family. Dad, Mom, Sisters, brothers, pets. Usually in my house, the family time is with my sisters, mom and I.
No matter how many problems a family has, a child should never be put on the spot of choosing between one parent and another. An adult choosing to be a parent means that they need to actually care about the child, listen to their problems, and give them advice. I don’t get any of those by this certain person because he is never home for me to talk to. And if he is he is either drunk starting a fight with my mom and my sisters get involved with the wrong situations or else he is sleeping. I need help by knowing what to do. Its either my mom gets a divorce with my father or we stay at home and have a life that is worthless. I believe that right now everybody in the whole world is in hell. Once we all are in heaven or hell that is when life will begin for me because I know I will go to Heaven and I know my family will to. Even though people make mistakes doesn’t mean they are bad people. I know my father isn’t a bad person. And that is when my life will begin. I am a 14 year old girl that is stressed out and scared to even be in my own house. I can’t take it anymore. He knows we all love him but he has lost all his trust for me. I can’t trust him anymore because he has promised us our whole lives he will get help and he still hasn’t. I don’t know what to do anymore. I will love him forever but I don’t know if I can take it anymore. I am sick of life and everything. Is there anything that I can do to help him? Is there anything we can do to show him what he is putting us through? I don’t know what to do anymore. I just need some good advice. PLEASE!!

The problem I have been having is with this kid who has really been bothering and annoying me lately. He is really annoying to be around and he never stops bugging the hell out of me. I just want to be left alone so I can do my school work in peace without having to hear his annoying voice. All I am asking for is some peace and quiet.
I dont like to start fights or anything because i dont want to get violent. Because i will proably get expelled. I hate switching schools so i cant really hit this person. But it seem's like there is no other option to this problem i have no idea what to do.

Ok like I said I am going to tell you some of the reasons it might know why my grades are going down. One of the reasons could be just because it is almost summer and I am looking so forward to it and like the warm blazing sun and just like going swimming a lot. I love going swimming. Another reason might just be because my stuff could be getting harder, it think that my homework is getting harder than it used to be. I do know how to do the stuff I just have a lot more of the stuff to do and its stupid cause I always wait the last minute to do my homework. On the weekends I usually end up doing all of my homework for that weekend really late at night of Sunday. Except if my mom says I have to do it on Saturday, but I guess that only happened once.

i want then to think something of me when i am older insead of think that i am stupid.
i know what you can do you can try harder in school so that you can be succesfull and you can live your life with a nice car and a nice house that you can go hame and live in. instead of going home to a dumpster and makeing that your home. and in the dumpster is going to be cold. so if you want to be a succes then you can be smart and get a good paying job so that you can buy your house and your car when it is time for you to make your move. so i think that you should do the best that you can while you still have the chance instead of whaiting until you are older. and have nothing to do.

It makes me feel uncomfortable and mad when they do these things, because it is disrespectful and mean. Plus I know that they are better than this. When they do this I tell them to stop it or try to change the subject, but they still do it. How do I make them stop?
Advice~No.16
When we got together and talked about what was going to happen, My parent told me that I had to decided weather I stay with my dad next year or move to St. George with my Mom. They told me I had to decide by the end of summer. Since summer is getting close, they keep asking me if I have thought about it. And of course I have, but it’s hard. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and I feel way too much pressure. I don’t know who to pick. I love them both. Mom or Dad? Murray or St.George? What do I tell them? What if I do hurt one of them? I just don’t know what to do.

The other thing that I don’t get is why it would be embarrassing to have a kid work. One reason why I want to work now is that I can save up and be successful. I would much rather learn now then later, and also my brother listened to my dad and did not get a job now he has no job and he is about to get married and his dad has to support him. To me that is embarrassing.

My problem is that I like two guys and they both like me and I would go out with either of them but I hardly ever see both of them. One is my neighbor who visits his dad (my neighbor) on some weekends. I have known him for the longest. The other lives in Springville and goes to school where my sister teaches. I have known him since spring break. They are both fifteen and I really like both. And neither answers emails. And neither have phones so we like never talk. Which one should I go out with?
If I had to I would go out with the one that is sometimes next-door, because I have known him the longest. But the other guy has almost the same personality… and I like him just as much. And we are so much alike we like all the same music, bands, he’s a gamer and I’m a gamer. Everything! While my neighbor is a sporty kind of guy and I don’t really like sports that much. But I have liked my neighbor for so much longer. What should I do???

Other than that, she’s also very opinionated. I know that everyone has their opinion and should be free to say it, but with her sometimes it just gets to the point where it’s annoying. I mean if we think different things about something, she’ll just keep fighting until everyone else agrees with her, and if they don’t she’ll pout or something. It’s kind of obnoxious. I know it’s hard to understand but I can’t stand this! I hate it when I can’t state my own opinion without being totally judged for it. I don’t want to make her sound like a total horrible person, cause she’s not. I would tell her about it but I don't want her to be offended! I just need some advice for what to do with this situation!

We both have season passes to Lagoon and I have to go, but unless this all works out I really can’t. It’s just so hard because we used to be best friends and we so many plans for the summer and future. If we don’t solve this soon I will lose a lot of money, and more importantly my best friend. We have forgiven each other multiple, but every time it just starts up again. I’m really confused and I don’t know what to do, can you help me?

It seems like the only reason we are going out is so he can say he has a girlfriend not because he really wants me to be in his life. When we are talking I will be mid-sentence and he will walk away to his friends like I wasn’t even there. And now he wont even say I love you and if he does it’s a quick love you so no one notices. I just feel so used. But he’s one of those guys that if you look at just once, you can’t forget. I love him so much and I try so hard not to lose him but now I am to the point where I just don’t know what to do to keep his love with me and not someone else. I feel like I need him in my life, more than anything but what am I supposed to do? What do I say? How do I cat? Like myself? Will I get anywhere? I just. I don’t know anymore.

Getting my homework done has never really been that big of a deal for me before, but now things have changed. I always have something going on after school and rarely have time for anything, especially homework. In a couple of my classes it has really began to show. Most people would say that cutting back on what I'm doing after school would be the key, but that's not an option.
Mandatory means you have to be there and thats what's labeled on my after school activities meaning there's no way out. Next I'm waiting for my parents to say something to me about my grades and maybe even my teachers. I've always been top of my class and now starting to slide down that hill..
What do I do?

Family Folkfore-Raven rivera
Here is my family Folk fore. It was a day to skate with my friend Brooke. And a day to have fun in the sun. The sun was as hot as if I was working in
I begin to go down it and it was going all smooth and slow until I go f the middle of the hill I was going like 150mph that’s how it felt. And at the bottom of the hill I begin to wobble because my knees locked like I don’t want to move, because I was so scared. And next thing later BAMB!!! I fall off my skateboard it felt as if I was falling off a giant horse going about 50 mph.
I fall and it was like a flash past in my eyes and I don’t remember something. I start to laugh as hard as a baby’s cry. And I look up and I see Brooke in shocked like why am I crying. She ran down the hill like as fast as she can she ran like as fast as a cheetah. She just sat there and didn’t know what to do she had a brain as a monkey because she didn’t know what to do.
So after I went down a hill similar to
When my knee got better and everyone stopped saying my knee looked ugly because I wear my pants I fell off my skateboard I finally got to run as fast as a cheetah! I loved how I can bend my knee and when my scab fell off it felt like my arm was getting tarred off it hurt so badly. When my scab was of my knee looked like a whole really deep whole.
Finally when my knee was feeling better and I didn’t have any scab on my knee, we talked about it and thought it was the funniest thing ever. And made jokes like no one ever does. We made jokes like, wow raven is so stupid, hey guys lets go skate off a hill. Ha ha it was so funny I was laughing as hard as a chimpanzee. It was the greatest moment I just want to cry, haha just joshen you!

Family Folklore by Natalie Sefilian
The only reason we went to Bear Lake was to go boating/tubing/fishing. So we got to the lake and we were off in the wonderfully beautiful bluish greenish water. While my dad was driving I was holding on so tight because I didn’t want to fly off the boat and land in the water. My father, mother, sisters, doggy and I were having a time of our lives. We put our sunscreen on and we were lying out and tanning. All of a sudden my dad was like whose first for the tubing and of course I always having to be first was the first one to go tubing. I love tubing more than I love spending time with the Fabulous 5. Okay that’s so not true because I love the Fabulous 5 but any who I was off in the water while everybody else was still on the boat. I was kind of freaking out because I really hate water with fishes in them because I always thought the fish would bite my toes. Yes weird and childish but so true and I still am afraid. My dad started up the boat and I was off going like 7000 miles per second in the water. My dad did a HUGE turn and there was a HUGE bump that I flew off the tube and into the water. And that’s when I was freaking out because of the fishes in the water. I swam as fast as a cheetah to get back to the boat. UNTIL I finally reached it. It was super fun though. I had never realized that I could swim that fast. But I guess I could.
The day went by with my family and I have a blast. We all swam and went tubing. My dad fished. My mom, sisters, and I tanned. It was all so fun. My dog even had a great time because he was practically asleep half the time. By the time we got back to shore and where my dad hooks our boat to the car we all were so tired. We got in the car and we just went straight to our cabin which is also in Bear Lake and we unpacked everything and went to bed. I fell asleep in less than 1 minute. Once my head touched my pillow I was already sleeping. That was such a fun weekend. I love my family and I loved our boating trip.
Family Folklore~Ashlyn Stackhouse
Once Upon a time on a cool morning in July the Stackhouse families were on there way to the airport at 4 A.M. I was so tired I could sleep for the rest of my life, but I also couldn’t wait to get to Virginia Beach, Virginia. The car ride to the air port felt like 5 million years, I almost died of boredom. All I could think about is how excited I was to walk on the beach, lay out in the sun, stay in a beach house, and swim in the nice cold ocean. I was so excided I could already feel the sand between my toes. We finally arrived at the airport and unloaded our luggage. Our luggage was so heavy it could have weighed down the world! My dad was much stressed, afraid we would miss our flight or something worse. Once I saw my cousins we ran to each other and gave each other the biggest hugs in the world. We all got our tickets and told each other what we are going to do once we get there. When we got to our gate, there were a lot of people there; the whole world could be there! After waiting 30 minutes, my cousin Cyd and I were hungry so we went to go to get cinnamon buns, which by the way were the BEST cinnamon buns ever! We got back to the gate and found out that the plane had been delayed 2 hours! What was I going to do? I could go all the way around the world and still make it in time for my plane ride! Again for the second time today, I was going to die of boredom.
After waiting the long 2 hours it was finally time to get on the huge plane. I got to sit by Cyd, so I was really happy about that. The whole way to Atlanta, Cyd and I listened to our IPods and played and drew things on a notebook. When we got to Atlanta we found out that we missed our connection to Virginia. So our whole family had to wait in The Crown room, The Crown room is a club for members only. Since my grandpas company paid for this membership, we all got to go in and enjoy.
After 5 long, boring hours we could finally get on our connection to Virginia. Finally! After what seemed like forever, we are finally going to be in Virginia! The warm sun, cold water, hot sand! I was so happy that my smile wouldn’t fit my face. We got onto the plane and settled down. After a hour and a half flight, we, the Stackhouse’s were finally in Virginia beach. We were hoping that nothing else would go wrong, but we didn’t get our wish. It turns out that our car rentals were all messed up and we needed to get it worked out. When we got our cars it was time for the 45 minute drive to the beach house.
When I stepped out of the car and felt that warm sun, cool breeze and saw the deep blue ocean I knew that it was worth the long day.
Funny Story by Joseph Vera
It was like 1 am when the party was over. We ended up walking to the desert and starting little fire and chilling around them. I guess someone from the apartments called the cops and told them what we were doing. We had no clue the cops were coming. We called our homie Leroy and told him that we were all kicking it in the desert. He knew that we were on a big hill called Shelby’s peak. We told him to come down and bring food. He said that he is going to leave in ten minutes.
So as all of were waiting we were talking about school and other things. As like 5 minutes passed I seen a car driving down the dirt path. We all thought I was him in this dad’s truck. His dad had a work truck that looks trashed so we decided to throw mud clots at the moving truck. Once we hit it a few times we herd the sound of a cop car. Lights started flashing and we all knew it was a cop. My homie Penut yelled “Run” we all started to run up and down hills. We ran about 200 yards in the desert until we reached the apartments. We all were looking back at the desert and we didn’t see the cop anywhere. So we jumped the fence and walked passed all the cars. We had to walk in the front of the apartments to get to Penut’s house. We walked right to the front and we seen the cop, we didn’t think he saw us because he was parked. We ran to a wall that is next to the cars and sat there for like 2 minutes. We felt like he was gone so just Penut and I went to go look and he was gone so we went and got them and told them to come inside. We walked in the house and went into in the front room and put music on. I called Leroy and told him to just walk down here and stay the night at Penuts. Leroy only lived like two blocks away. So he was there in a matter of minutes. Once Leroy got there he said why weren’t ya’ll out there. So we told him the story. He said that he is lucky he didn’t go because he would have got busted with his dad’s truck. I ended up telling my grandma and she said next time I go party to tell her.

FAMILY FLKORE by:maygon robinson
Well my family folklore is on this one time when me and m older brother were out side at the rec center playing basketball and what happened was suppose to be the rebound and when ever he made a basket I would throw him the ball back and so I wasn’t paying a attention I was texting and all of a sudden the ball hits me right in the face and it hurt so back I was so mad it was like the worst pain I have ever had I was so mad at him for a long time so I thought I would try and get him back.
So about a month later we were in the house and we were playing football and I was acting like I was going to throw it to him but I threw it right at his face as he was walking out of the kitchen I didn’t notice that he spilled a whole glass of fruit punch it spilled all over the Flore not even one drop fell on him but anyway I got in trouble for it because I didn’t notice that my dad seen the whole thing so I ended up having to clean the punch out of the Flore.
My brother just laughed because every time I try to get him back I am the one getting in trouble. But one day I finally got him back for throwing the ball at my face (on accsadent) so we were playing football a week later but this time we were out side and. I wanted to get him back so bad because every time I tried I was the one getting in trouble. so we were playing catch for awhile then I had the ball and he wasn’t paying attention so I thought it was the perfect time to get him back .so I took the football and threw it right in his face it was very very funny because he had no clue that I was going to throw it really hard at his face. He was very mad at me but I didn’t care I was just so happy that I got him back. So now we were equal and that’s what I wanted.
Family Folklore by Michaela Allen
We jumped off the boats and the water was so cold our toes started turning blue. We swam to the huge rocks that were so high that it hurt my neck to look up at them. We started climbing up the side of the rocky cliff things and it was really steep and slippery to climb up that we could fall off as easily as an apple could fall out of a tree. Two of my cousins and I did not want to jump off the really really high part because it was extremely high. So we jumped off into a lower spot, but even that spot was taller than a four story house. Once we were where we wanted to jump, I couldn’t get myself to jump. I was so scared I thought I would die a painful death if I went. Both my cousins had to go before I was convinced to jump down into the lake. It hurt a little when I hit the water and I was soon surrounded by icy cold blue-green water. We swam back up, and jumped a few more times, each time less scary than the next.
We swam back to the boat, which felt really far away to swim, and got on a boat to watch other people jump. The braver, older people, like my older cousins and uncles, went up much higher to jump. There was a rope they grabbed onto and swung off. It was so scary just to watch. I do not regret not trying it at all because a couple people got hurt, but not seriously. My sister got caught on the rope and so she was later letting go of the rope and everyone was screaming at her to let go. She was fine besides that she got a really bad rope burn. The rope burn was so red it was the color of a ripe tomato. As we sat on the boat we were freezing and shivering from the cold water that we’d been in. When we started driving again, it got even colder from the wind whipping at us.
We kept driving through the lake until we found a good beach to eat lunch. It felt like it took even longer to get anywhere then the first time, because this time I was cold, wet, and hungry. It was much warmer by the time we got to the beach because we were dryer and the sun was out. I was so hungry that I could’ve eaten an elephant, a tiger, and three snakes and still be hungry for desert. We sat on big rocks and ate lunch in the sun. After we ate we walked around on the smooth, sandy beach and waded out in the lake. It was the best day ever, of the best vacation ever, and there was still so much more of the day for more exciting fun back at the campsite.
Family Folklore~Laura Isaacson
My Family Folklore is going to be about one of my brothers, his name is Jaden and right now he is six, but at the time he was two years old. It is taking place at Jourdenale in Park City.
It was a very hot boiling sunny day we had decided to take a trip to Jourdenale and go jets skiing with all of our family and friends. I’ve been waiting for this trip four a few weeks and it felt more like a year. Well, the day finally came it was July 17, and it was really early in the morning; we got up so early, around five-thirty in the morning. I was so tired I just laid there because I couldn’t get up, It was impossible for how tired I was. After a while I finally got out and up off of my bed. I helped my mom put everything in the van for the day.
We had to bring a lot of stuff because like it was a huge family trip and my cousins were coming, my aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends, and some of my family’s friends and just a lot of people. The whole world was going; we got there and unloaded the van; it was a lot warmer in sandy than it was in Park city. Well, it wasn’t that cold it was just a little windy there which made just a little breeze in the air. I and it looked like everyone else their was having the best day of there life, when it suddenly started getting really windy and cold.
It was the hardest wind ever; I was playing in the water when it started getting windier every second. I decided to go in the car where it was warm and so I could change. I was in the car with my friends when I looked down in the water and my brother Jaden was in there in a tube without a life jacket, I was so scared. I saw my cousin Jason (he was 16 at the time) go in the water to get Jaden, but every time he would even get close to grabbing the tube in would blow more into the ocean.
Finally he caught the tube and was trying to pull it back, but the wind was to strong it was pulling him and Jaden in farther. My Uncle Jake and Sister Jill were going to go get Jaden and Jason on a jet ski because they were stuck out there. They finally found them and were trying to grab them, but the wind just knocked the Jet Ski over.
Some people that we didn’t know came and got them on there boat that they were using and were coming to the shore, but it was really hard four the boat to go to shore while that wild wind was going on. They finally got to shore with everyone worrying, my brother looked frozen. I was so scared and I would tell more about the story, but i think i already did enough.

As we got to Universal Studios it was crowded like a like a concert! What were we going to do? My sister Dixie and I went off on our own. First we went on the tour bus. The man said that we were going to see how they do floods in the movies, Oh No! The water was so high it was over the bus, we were soaking wet! The bus moved on, we saw scenery and, what? The stunt cars from The Fast and The Furious! I love that movie! WOW! We got to see how they make the cars blow up! I could feel the fire like it was right next to me not so far away! It was as hot as the oven when my mom bakes cookies! Then we saw the building where they film cities and towns. The man told us where famous people had been filmed and how they walked down the same street we were on!!
After the ride on the most amazing bus in the world we decided it was time for some rides! To get to the rides we had to walk down almost one thousand stairs. Their was so many stairs that they had a radio thing on that we listened to that was like a quiz one question was “what is this theme song from?” they played part of the song from the show Friends and part of the song from Seinfield. When we finally got down all of the stairs we felt like we were one hundred years old! But all those stairs were worth it when we went on the Mummy ride! It was so cool! First their was no line at all so we walked right up and got on the ride. Then when we started moving we went so fast it was like we were going one hundred miles an hour. Then we came to this wall and stopped with a jerk. And all of a sudden these bugs came running down the wall so fast and we felt them at our feet, nasty! Me and my sister started saying how the wall was going to open then out of the blue, we flew backwards! We were still going so fast that my head flew forward! When the ride was over and we got to the start again the lady running the ride asked if we wanted to go again and without thought we both yelled yes!
So we went again. Up and down. Screaming at the top of our lungs the whole time! I had never been so happy in my life. My sister and I couldn’t believe how much fun we had just had! We rode the ride over and over tell we couldn’t take it any longer! Then it was time to move on to the next ride for more and more California fun!

When we walked back up from the river and found one of my other cousins, who just gotten there, was dancing on the picnic table to a disco song. I just shook my head and thought how was I related to these people. Dinner was ready and smelt like heaven. Hamburgers, salad, chips, hotdogs, coke and anything else that you can think of was sitting at the table. We all started to dig in, makings big hamburgers with everything on them. I started to make fun of my cousin for putting chips on his hamburger, I told him that chips are a side and not suppose to be on his hamburger, he just shook me off and continued with his weird idea.
Once we were done eating it started to get dark, but we still wanted to play around. There was all these rocks and boulders in a huge pile so Cydney, Emily, Maddie and Me wanted to go lay on the rocks or just hang out on them. We were talking about how much we love camping, the smell, the colors of the trees and the look of the mountains. Our Grandma came over with a camera and wanted a picture of us. When she told us to smile we all did a silly face but our grandma wanted s nice picture so she told us to be serious, but right when she took the picture we all made silly faces again. After that she was mad at us, but we had fun.

It took us about an hour to finish eating and ten minutes to go get gas at a gas station because there were hundreds of cars in long lines. It was like noon when we were at the gas station so it was really hot! I felt like I was baking in an oven alive. We finally got back on the road and my sister and I were so bored out of our minds we felt like old people who just sit there and do nothing. My sister brought her iPod along but both of us wanted to listen to it without sharing, which would leave one of us really bored because without music life is so boring and dull. So my sister decided to have a staring contest and whoever won would get to listen to the iPod until we got to Las Vegas! So I agreed to play even though the chance of me winning was one in a million but I still didn’t care. I was so happy that I did play though because I won! But at the same time I regretted it because after we played my eyes were stinging so bad it felt like I had just stared at the sun for two hours.
Since I was listening to my iPod, time went by so fast it felt like we got to Las Vegas in ten minutes. It had been like two years since we had last gone to Vegas, but to me it felt like a decade. Everything looked so different and almost all the hotels had been remodeled it felt like it was my first time there. We checked into our hotel which was the Flamingo and it looked way better from when we last went there. I loved the Flamingo because there was a lot of pink stuff in our hotel room of course, and I just love the color pink. Both my sister and I think the best part though is the swimming pools, as soon as we got to the hotel we just wanted to head out the door and go swimming. But of course my mom said no because we had to eat, but as soon as we were done we were done we could go swimming. My sister and I knew we were not going to go swimming after we ate because my dad takes five hours to eat so by the time he was done the pools would be close. As usual we were right, so the next day we finally went swimming!! It was extremely hot in Vegas so we figured the water was going to be very warm. Boy were we wrong, the water was freezing cold we thought we were going to get die of hypothermia. After awhile both of us got used to the water and had so much fun on their waterslides we did not want to go back to the hotel, but we had to. I had so much fun last year in Vegas that I was really sad when we left. I still haven’t forgotten how much fun I had, that every time I talk about the trip it feels as if I was there yesterday.

Family Folklore by Chelsee Robertson
On day last summer some time me and my uncle bud, my grandpa, Colten, Ethen and my mom were out on the boat on a lake that is a 1,000 miles long. We were coming back from the pipe line and we were trolling which is were you let the poles stay in the water for a while and you are moving while they are in there. And it was hot like a fire burning on you and my cousin colten decides to lean over the side of the boat and put his vest in the water to cool it of and a fish grabbed it and tries to pull it in the water and then my cousin tries to pull it in with the fish on it and the fish pulls colten in to the water. All of a sudden we all hear a loud splash like thunder striking. And he is screaming out for help and just keeps screaming out like bloody murder. And we are just trying to pull him back in the boat with the fish. And the fish is just like 250 feet long when we pull it in the boat and my cousin is just like ha ha ha I caught the biggest fish so far to all of u people.
And then we just decide to go to a cove to go eat lunch and go bat fishing in on of the coves near by the pipe line the pipe line is all red and white and it is really long and it is really cool to look at from a far distance. The pipe line is the best place to fish in for the good fish but you have to troll there and I don’t like to troll I think that it is just a chance for me to drive the huge boat that is like 100 feet long and it has all the house hold items in it. And it is really hard to get it in the water to drive but it also goes very fast like a street race car would. And the time that my uncle Bud let colten my cousin drive the boat he just about crashed the boat into a wall that is like a 1,000 feet high and then I turned and saw that he was going to do that and that I turned the boat away from the wall and it was very hard to turn the boat away from something like that.
And that he probably wont be able to drive the boat again tell he is older then he was then he was only 10 years old and I was only 13 years old and that I may seem scary to drive a boat but it is actually fun to drive the boat. I get to drive the boat when we are trolling so that they all can fish and you have to keep a different amount of a distance away from the wall and the other boats there and the depth to the distance you have to stay away is at least 100 feet or so I think.

Today is the day; I have been waiting for this day my entire life! We had finally arrived at the most beautiful place on earth, Jackson Lake. The sun was shining brighter than I had ever seen it, which meant we would be getting a nice tan. The second we got out of the car we dumped on gallons of sunscreen, threw on our swimsuits, and ran faster than lighting into the lake. We could’ve swum until our funerals if our stomachs could help it, but of coarse they couldn’t. Starved, we leaped out of the lake and we went to the best restaurant on the planet. Jackson Pizzeria.
In order to get to Jackson Pizzeria you have to take a simple short boat ride, or at least that’s what we thought. We went on a boat ride that was longer the plane ride to china! Not to mention the waves where bigger than big foot’s house, which meant no one felt 100 percent. At last we had arrived and we entered heaven! After spending all the money in the world on food, we waited for the boat to ride. We waited longer than a year, and the boat still wasn’t there! So we decided to improvise and did all sorts of stuff. I had so much energy I felt like I could do a million back flips! Looking over to my right I saw my sisters doing a piggy back ride. With my mischievous mind I jumped on her back like a frog, and might I say the picture was the funnier than watching Saturday night live for three hours.
After laughing our heads off, the boat finally arrived. We all felt like we were going to burst because we ate so much, but that didn’t stop us from getting the classic ice cream sundae. This sundae was bigger than three of Mount Everest’s stacked on top of each other. We ate and ate until we really were going to explode, which is when we decided to walk back to the cabin. My family and I saw billions of animals, it was so much fun! Until it of coarse started pouring. There were buckets and buckets of rain, so we started to sprint. We had run five marathons until we finally reached the cabin. We all looked like we just jumped into a pool, so we changed into warm clothes and played the funniest and most enjoyable game on this earth, signs.
You wouldn’t think we could laugh anymore after how much we had laughed that day, but we did. We were louder than a rock concert, which upset the neighbors. We got a worried call and knew that is was time to go to bed. The parents went in their cabin and the kids went in theirs. We were all more tired than a baby with no sleep, but there was no way we were going to bed just yet! We talked and talked until our voices were gone, then we finally crashed. Our parents walked in, in the morning and they said we all looked dead. I hope they never find out we were up all night long having the time of our lives.

have been told of this herd was led by an enormous white bull the Indian people believed that a white buffalo had special spiritual significances and they revered this animal they also believed was any man who could kill a white buffalo was super-human. The Shoshones hunted this herd often with some of the hunters hoping to kill a white leader. The buffalo always escaped but one time the hunters were luckier that usual and were able to kill some of the herd. The buffalo became fearful and desperate and in their
effort to get away from the hunters they tried to cross the frozen lake .The ice was not strong enough to support the heavy animals fell through the ice and sank to their death with a great plunging and roaring above all the other bellows could be heard the roar of the white leader as he sank in the icy water to this day a roar often comes up from the depths of the lake .it is thought to come from the spirit of the huge white bull, roaring on and on for ever in protest of the fate that befell him and his herd.
And that is my not so family folklore family folklore/ Native American Shoshone/Bannock. And yet again it not 500 words I know I know I am sorry but that the legend/folklore.

We made it to the top of the rollercoaster and it started heading downhill. It headed down the hill faster than a cheetah running in the forest! I grasped my seat and screamed louder than a trumpet! The coaster trailed up and down and getting faster every time! The back was the BEST! We were laughing then our smiles we’re smeared of instantly the second our cart flew 50 feet in the air! We screamed so loud the people turned around and glared at us! We were so high in the air, we exchanged looks and laughed. It was so amazing the feeling of flying in the air. After all, the rollercoaster was built in 1921. The ride slowly stopped in and it was ended. Our faces we’re blank and our hair was practically glued back. We jumped out of the seats and shoved through everyone to get back in line! Fast as lightning we were already on it again! And again, and again and again! Until we were tired of that rollercoaster, we decided to take a break. I was so tired I could drop over and fall asleep!
We thought it’d be best if we went on a new ride. We walked around the park for a year! We finally chose a ride, The Cliffhanger! WE got in line with butterflies racing around our stomachs; we jumped in our seats and clipped our seatbelts on. I was so excited I could scream! Before we knew it the ride was going, the seats were already wet, and before the hot sun could pound on us, a big splash of water sprays ALL over us! We were 1OO% completely soaked! We screamed of relief from the water reducing the heat from the sun. Our chair was swinging and going crazy! I swear we were going 209230 miles per hour! Before we had time to acknowledge it, the ride was STUCK! Luckily we were right side up, unlike the people above us! Since we were stuck there for 40 hours, we talked to a dude above us, asking him how it was to be upside down, he said it was fun. Whatever! We eventually got of the ride and it was the best and more fun day at Lagoon EVER!!

As a child I loved to climb. Even though I was just three I would go to my backyard, that was an Amazon jungle, and climb all day long. When I ever I got the chance I would climb every tree in the park. My Mom always had to keep a close eye on me at the park after she told me this story.
I looked over and saw the biggest pine tree I had ever seen it must have been bigger the Paul Bunyan. I ran over there and swung into one of its long thick branches. Pine sap rubbed all over me making it easier to stick to the tree. Branch by branch I climbed to the tippy top. I found the perfect spot to sit and then I just waited. After like an hour my mom and grandma realized I was gone worried sick they searched everywhere for me. Both of them felt like they were going to throw up. After searching for 4 hours they finally decided maybe to call the cops. Deciding maybe to call my name one more time just to be sure I was lost. With a loud call they listened very close. For what felt like forever they didn’t hear anything then they heard a little giggle coming from the top of one of the trees. Not knowing how I high I could climb they looked up every tree. There I was just sitting after the very top waving to them. At first my mom started to cry but then she grew very angry. Even the fiercest bull would run away in fear because she was so mad. I knew I was in big trouble so it took me a very long time to climb down. She put me in time out and wouldn’t let me come out for forever. I learned to always tell her where I’m going.
Snapshot moment~Laura Isaacson

It took along time, as we walked home with no coats or jackets and a slurpee in our hand. It started to get really cold. My fingers began to freeze up and my face started to turn red. I was really like way cold. I looked at my sister and she was like frozen she was like purple and she looked even colder then I did, I kept wishing so much that we just brought our coats. I felt like I was going to freeze and I didn’t know what to do because I didn’t want to throw my slurpee away because I just bought it and I love them.
I started to wonder if ii should just throw it away, I was thinking for a really long time and right as I was about ready to just go throw it away, I looked ahead of me and I was just three houses away from my house. I was really happy and decided I should just keep it and knot throw it away. Then I looked at my Friend Mary and she didn’t look cold at all, I looked at her slurpee and she didn’t eat any of it and she had paper tall’s around her slurpee. I thought oh I wish I thought of that (Mary always has good Ideas on just about anything) We finally got home.
I got my moms camera and started playing with it. I walked in my sister’s room and her tongue was red from the slurpee she got. I told her and she was like “Oh my heck, Its so cute, I love colorful tongues” So she took the camera and started taking like a million photos of her red tongue that she loved. After like an hour she was still talking all about her red tongue. She even described exactly how it felt to have a red tongue.
She showed me her tongue and I was like WOW! It was as Red as a tomato I looked at mine and it was even better then hers. So I kept eating my slurpee and it was getting redder every time, then I started eating a different color of slurpee and it started turning black. It looked awesome, I loved it. At the end I was so glad that I didn’t throw it away because then we wouldn’t have this Awesome! Picture.

Family Folklore by Meghan Dow
It all started that Thursday morning. It seemed as normal as any other day except that my dad was acting stranger than ever. But I had to go to school and payed no attention to his weird behavior. Everything went perfectly that day, I got 100% on my test, did a perfect cartwheel, and I found a $10 bill on the sidewalk! Everything went perfectly, that is until 2:30 that afternoon I was randomly called down to office.
I wasn't expecting it, and usually somebody tells what it's for before I get called down. The most horrible reasons popped into my head for why I was called down. Soon I was sweating waterfalls, I was so nervous, and the hallway had to be at least a mile long. It seemed like years had passed before I got down to the office. Who knew it could take so long?! When I arrived at the office I say my mom and I braced myself for the bad news. Ellie, my sister, was standing behind her and she seemed fine so I told myself to chill. My mom signed the paper to check us out of the school and as we walked out Ellie asked her, "Why did you check us out?" WHAT!? I thought she knew what was going on! I became more nervous than ever. I started hyperventilating. "Calm down Meghan." My mom said cooler than an ice cube, "We are just going to the dentist." I sighed a sigh of relief so big that I'm sure China could feel its wind. We hopped in the car and my mom began to explain that we were going to a new dentist. "His name is Dr. Gunnar and he has green eyes. His breath is a little stinky, funny you would think that a dentist would have nice smelling breath, and he doesn't talk much." I was surprised at how much my mom knew about the dentist, but didn't give it another thought. We pulled into the parking lot of the Cottonwood Mall and I asked my mom what we were doing here. "He works here," she replied. Suddenly I felt very suspicious.
As we approached the door I noticed a sign that was smaller than an ant that said, "Furburbia" suddenly I remembered the note that my sisters and I wrote to my parents asking for a dog. I inhaled so hard that I must of sounded like a pterodactyl. As we opened the door a thick smell of wet dog and pet food drowned us. But I had no time to take in the smell before a smiling beagle jumped on me. His muddy paw prints stuck out against my white shirt more than a black cat in a snow covered field, but he was the cutest dog ever! I hoped that he was going to be mine but I told myself not to get my hopes up. Just then my dad walked in a said, "Do you like him?" "Yeah!" I shouted. "Good because he's your-," he didn't even have time to finish his sentence before I practically suffocated him with a hug. Then I went over to the dog and covered him with kisses. "What's his name dad?" I asked. "Gunnar." he replied.
