Family Folklore By: Savanna Goudie

My family has always liked to bug my grandma about how afraid she is of spiders or any type of insects. Even if you go up behind her and and put your hand on her shoulder she freaks out. We also love to put fake insects in her hair or on her shoulder and then she will start screaming. Teasing her is our favorite thing to do when we go up to our grandma and grandpa's house.

My whole famiy including my cousins, aunts, and uncles were up at my aunts house. My cousins had found this huge spider out in there front yard. It was bigger than a base ball. It's eye's were popping out of it's head and were so bright it burned your eyes to look at. The hair on it's back was at least five inches tall! They had been saving it in a bucket for about three days. So when we all went up there on Sunday we were showing my grandma and grandpa the spider. My grandpa thought he would be funny and pretend to throw it at my grandma. Well he didn't notice there was a hole in the top of the cup and the spider actually flew out and landed on my grandma.

My grandma jumped so high she went through the ceiling. She started freaking out and running around. She was running so fast you couldn't even see her. They started looking for the spider and couldn't find it anywhere. She started shaking her clothes out and taking off her jacket. They still couldn't find it and by this time my grandma was screaming to the top of her lungs that all of our ear drums popped. We finally decided to look on the couch and there it was sitting right in the middle.

By the end my grandma was crying because she was so scared. She even said she might have peed her pants which is pretty embarrssing! Then we just started throwing the spider on her for fun because it was dead. It still scared the crap out of her. Every time I look at it, it grows bigger and bigger! The funniest part was we recorded the whole thing.
