My kinder garden class was learning about what came first the chicken or the egg. My teacher said that the only way you guys could know that is to do an activity with a real egg. I remember one kid said are we going to have eggs for breakfast? My teacher said no we are not going to eat it we are going to raise it. All the kids yelled WHAT HUH?! And the teacher was surprised. she couldn't believe that we were so confused. My teacher announced that she had contacted a local farmer and he was willing to bring one chicken egg for us to watch through an incubator. We were so exited. About our young visitor that was coming the next day my classmates and I thought we would die of anticipation. The teacher thought we were kind of ridiculous.
After school my cousin and I were so exited so we ran home as fast as we could and she ran to my aunt and I ran to my mom we lived in the same house which was pretty cool. Shantell and I told our mothers about we are going to be able to have a baby chicken in our classroom!!. Our moms were saying that's really cool that you get to do that. We were over rejoiced and we could barley sleep the next day we jumped out of bed immediately like there was no tomorrow. When we got to the breakfast line at school and we sat down and we hardly ate, Because we were talking all about the egg coming today in class. After we were done with our food we hurried to class and on the board was written everyone please sit on the big rug. When the teachers came in they told us to be patient about the farmer, She said hes on his way. When the farmer walked in we all shouted yay hes here!!!. He was carring an incubator in his hands with cloth inside holding the egg. He explained we have to be careful with it because it is very fragile. After about a week or two we had our own little yellow chick as a class pet. We got to feed it, hold it and play with it.
