"Family Folklore" by Alex Buchanan

When my mother was younger she played the piano. She was amazing, everytime she played a note on the keyboard it seemed like the heavens opened up to listen to her play. When she was sad, she played songs so sad that sometimes the clouds would cry when she played. Other times when she was happy, she would play and the sky would clear up and all of the birds would come out to sing and listen to her play. One day a key on her piano broke and she could not play that note for 3 days, she had to wait for it to be replaced. She was so angry that she could not play, so she cried and cried. The man never came to fix the piano and soon my mom didn't miss the piano as much. Then when the man came a long time after he was supossed to and fixed the key she sat down and tried to play. I think that nails on a chalkboard would have sounded better than her playing! She had been so busy thinking about other things in this time that she forgot how to play the piano. The lesson to learn from this story is to never give up on your talents or else you may loose them!
